Here at Wilston Vet we like to share our interesting cases with you. Each month we upload one of our current patient’s veterinary treatments. These include intestinal surgeries, broken bone surgeries, diabetic management, infectious disease treatments and birthing complications (to mention a few.) We hope that you enjoy reading about these brave pets as they undergo their veterinary treatment. If you would like us to do a story on your own pet following treatment with us, please let us know as we would be delighted to oblige.

Bella’s family noticed her breathing sounded quite snuffly and wheezy, but she still seemed bright and happy. Bella had exhibited intermittent coughing episodes in the past, but this time her mum was concerned as the coughing was quite frequent and it had started after Bella had been given some cooked bones. Name: Jim
Age: 9yrs old
Weight: 36kg
Breed: Bull Mastiff X
Sex: Male, desexed
History: Jim limped through Wilston Vet’s door in July this year. His owners had noticed that he had been intermittently lame on his right hind leg for a little while. A partial tear of his cruciate ligament was suspected by another vet in February after x-rays of the right knee showed inflammation and evidence of degenerative joint disease. A couple of days prior to coming to Wilston Vet, Jim had twisted his right leg and was now much more painful. Jim’s left knee had been operated on for a cruciate tear using a de-angelis procedure 7yrs ago. Jim had been doing so well since then so his owners were wondering if Jim’s right knee was also a candidate for the same surgical repair.
