Wilston Vet has launched a
“Pet Fit” program in
conjunction with Hills Pet
Foods to encourage pet
owners to slim down their
tubby feline and canine
companions. A  competition
is underway to find the
“Pet Slimmer of the Year”
who will win $2000 worth
of travel vouchers (for their
owners) and one year’s
supply of Hills Pet Food.
The Competition will run
for all of 2010.

 Our Staff

Our staff comprises 2 full time vets, 2 part-time vets, 5 nurses,1 receptionist and 1 groomer.

 

Meredith Brothers BVsc (hons) MACVsc- Vet-Practice Owner

Meredith is the practice owner and works at the practice most days. She graduated from the University of Queensland Veterinary Science School in 1990 with first class honours. Following graduation she worked in a country practice for 2 years before heading off to work in the UK for a further 2 years.She has since been working in small animal practice in the Brisbane area.  Mid 2003, Meredith branched out on her own and opened Wilston Vet.  She has kept very up to date in her profession by completing her membership exams. Only a small percentage of practising veterinarians have attained these prestigious qualifications.   When not at work, Meredith likes to spend time with her family (husband Andrew, daughter Rebecca, son Jacob and her dog "Mimi").


 

 


Kate Euler BVsc(hons)- Full Time Vet

Kate graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Queensland in 2004. After a few years working in a mixed animal practice and a zoo in sunny Cairns, Kate joined Wilston Vet Surgery and worked full time for 16 months before heading off to the UK on a 2 year working holiday. During her time in the UK, Kate gained invaluable surgical and medical experience working in busy small animal clinics both for the RSPCA and in Birmingham. Kate returned home to Australia and to Wilston Vet in Feb 2010 and has since been working here as a full time senior veterinarian.  Kate is keen to pursue further qualifications in small animal medicine and is passionate about providing the highest quality of veterinary care to her patients. In her leisure time Kate enjoys hiking, ballet and socialising with her friends.


 


Amisha Patel BVSc - Full Time Vet

Amisha graduated from MasseyUniversity in New Zealand in 2007.  Her first position was in NSW where she became proficient at treating birds, reptiles and exotic pets and has since continued her interest in those species. After that she moved back to New Zealand to work in small animal clinic in Ashburton.  Amisha and her partner then left New Zealand for 6 weeks to volunteer at the Esther Honey Foundation (EHF) in the Cook Islands.  EHF works in concert with local government officials, businesses, community members to bring compassionate and affordable veterinary services to Cook Island companion animals in need.  Following this, Amisha moved to sunny Brisbane and commenced working full time at Wilston Vet in March 2010.  Amisha’s special interests include birds and exotic species, as well as small animal medicine and surgery with an holistic approach. In her leisure time Amisha enjoys travelling, reading, live music and dancing.


 

 

Anita Link BVSc(hons) Part Time Vet

Anita is our part-time veterinarian and you will mostly see her around the surgery on Saturdays.
Anita graduated from Queensland University with honours in 1997 and has since been working in small animal practice. Anita spends much of her spare time at veterinary seminars and conferences. Anita has also just completed a post graduate university degree in scientific journalism.
At present Anita is on maternity leave after the birth of her second child "Alex".


 

Karen Holeman - Head Vet Nurse

Karen has joined Wilston Vet as a full  time veterinary nurse in early 2008.  Karen has attained her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing (the highest qualification recognised for veterinary nurses).  Karen has a special interest in surgical and medical nursing.  She has had a wealth of practical experience in both small and large animal practices. Karen is our senior head nurse.
During her spare time, Karen enjoys rock climbing, movies, visiting family at Noosa and spending time with her 5 year old Border Collie 'Malachi.'

 

 



Kelly Clayden Vet Nurse CERT IV

Kelly started working at Wilston Vet in March 09. Kelly moved across from New Zealand with her partner to start a new life here in Australia.  She is a fully qualified Certificate 4 veterinary nurse and brings to the practice a wealth of knowledge and experience from working in a busy New Zealand Veterinary Hospital for 4 years.
Kelly also brought to Australia her 2 cats and dog who she could not live without!! Kelly enjoys the outdoors in her spare time as well as keeping fit by doing some part time work as a personal trainer. Like Amisha, Kelly has also spent 6 weeks volunteering at the Esther Honey Foundation in the Cook Islands.

 

Chelsea Devlin- Receptionist

Chelsea joined Wilston Vet in early 2009 and brought with her several years experience in customer service. Chelsea loves dealing with people and is always up for a chat!! Chelsea is a country girl and grew up on a farm with many animals- both domestic pets and livestock.Chelsea loves to travel and would like to spend time working in another country and travelling around the continants.

 


 

   

 Donna Pearce Vet Nurse

 Donna is our part time nurse and works on the surgery each Saturday and Monday. Donna is a Certificate 3 qualified veterinary nurse and is currently completing her Certificate 4.
Donna also comes from New Zealand but has been in Australia for many years now. 

When not at work she enjoys spending time with her 2 small girls and her husband.

 

 

Georgia Burleigh-Trainnee Vet Nurse

Georgie joined out team last year as a school based veterinary nursing trainee and works at the practice part time. Georgie is in grade 12 this year and hopes to finish her veterinary nurse traineeship by the end of her senior year. Georgie has two little dogs of her own. Georgie spends a lot of time in our cattery attending to our boarding cats and giving them lots of cuddles and attention. Georgie also hydrobaths dogs on a Saturday at the surgery.

 

 


Kim Blinco Trainee Vet Nurse


Kim is our most recent staff addition and she has joined us after a very colourful job history in the performing arts industry.
Kim has always loved pets and has a menagerie of pets herself consisting of 3 dogs, 4 cats, chickens and a miniature horse.
Kim has had experience previously in the animal industry when she worked at a dog grooming salon. Kim is excited about the opportunity to follow her dream and work with animals.

 

Carmen Best VN

Carmen is our casual veterinary nurse who works at the clinic on Mondays and Saturdays. Carmen has been a vet nurse for 10 years has a menagerie of pets at home including 5 cats, 2 snakes and a bird. Carmen also works at Albany Creek Veterinary Surgery when she is not working at Wilston, so is a very busy young lady. Carmen’s nursing interests lie in animal behaviour and advanced surgical nursing. Carmen has many years of experience in puppy training and teaches our Puppy Preschool classes on Monday nights. When not at work Carmen enjoys relaxing at home and spending time with her friends and family. 
 

 

 

 

 

Jessica Leith-School Based Trainee

Jessica is currently a full-time student at Kelvin Grove State College. Her favourite subjects at school are science, music and catering. She joined Wilston Vet this year as a school based trainee and works on a casual basis. Jess is in year 10 and is going to finish her cert 3 in companion animal studies by end of year 12. She loves animals, music, cooking and   spending time with her family and friends.
