History: Tilly came to Wilston vet for her regular annual vaccination. During her pre-vaccine health check Dr. Nichola Hinchy noticed something strange happening with her teeth. Tilly was unfortunate enough to have a malocclusion of her jaw resulting in a noticeable “under bite”. This means the lower part of her jaw protrudes further forward than the top.

Minty – Miss Mischievous Labby

Name: Minty
Age: 2yrs old
Weight: 25kgs
Breed: Labrador
Sex: Female

History: Minty’s troubles started several months ago when she came to see us for a sore front left foot. After a thorough examination including X-Rays to rule out broken bones, no reason for the sore foot could be found. Minty was sent home for strict rest with some pain relief medication and antibiotics to cover for any infection that may be present.

Floyd -The Burmese With  No Reason To Smile

History: Floyd came to visit us after his owner noticed some swelling in his face. The swollen area was covered in a purulent and caseous (cheese like) discharge that is consistent with an abscess. The most probable cause for an abscess in a cat is a cat fight, dental disease or foreign bodies (i.e. something stuck under the skin similar to a splinter etc).

Elmo – A Brush With Death

Breed: Fox Terrier X
Sex: Male

History: Elmo was rushed to Wilston Vet after being hit by two cars on a busy nearby road. He presented with major head trauma and severe neurological signs. He was bleeding from a laceration above his left eye and also from his nostrils. Elmo’s pupils were dilated and he was unable to focus on us or his surroundings.

Felix -The Rat Who Was Removed From His Tumour (It Was That Big!)

History:
Felix presented to the clinic when his owners noticed a lump on the Felix’s left shoulder. The lump developed a few days prior to examination and had continued to grow in size. Felix had been less active than normal, however was still bright and had a good appetite.
