Sooki- A Needle Point Shave With Death

Name: Sooki
Species: Feline
Breed: Ragdoll
Sex: Female – Speyed
Age: 5 months
Current Weight: 2.9kgs

History: Five months into this world and Sooki is already playing havoc.
One recent Sunday evening, Sooki paid a visit to the Pet Emergency at Stafford. Her owners were concerned about a piece of thread that was hanging from her bottom. She had also vomited once and was showing some signs of abdominal pain. An x-ray was taken of her abdomen at the PET ER and what showed up was quite interesting. Sooki had swallowed a sewing needle attached to a long thread of cotton.

Prinny- An Itchy Scratchy Ordeal

Prinny- An Itchy Scratchy Ordeal

Name: Prinny
Species: Feline
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Female – Speyed
Age: 2y 6m
Current Weight: 3.8kgs

History: Prinny is a lovely cat with a gentle temperament. Prinny first presented to Wilston Vet when she was 1y 6m age as her owners had noticed that she was starting to develop a severe generalised dermatitis. It was the end of Spring and Prinny had just recently started to lick and scratch at her fur and some fleas and flea dirt were also noted. (Fleas are a common problem all year around, however often are most prevalent in the Spring and Summer months.) Some animals can develop a condition called ‘flea allergy dermatitis’ which can cause a generalised itch and discomfort even from the bite of one single flea. Flea prevention had been applied to Prinny prior to her visit, however she had continued to lick and scratch at her fur.

Name: Bella
Age: 8yrs old
Weight: 5kg
Breed: Shih Tzu x Schnauzer
Sex: Female, desexed

History: Little Bella is a gorgeous 8yr old Shih Tzu X Schnauzer who came to see Dr Nichola as her family was concerned that she had been coughing for a few days. Bella’s family noticed her breathing sounded quite snuffly and wheezy, but she still seemed bright and happy. Bella had exhibited intermittent coughing episodes in the past, but this time her mum was concerned as the coughing was quite frequent and it had started after Bella had been given some cooked bones. There was a risk that Bella could have had a bone caught in her upper airways or oesophagus.
