Wilston Vet participates in the Annual RSPCA Cupcake Day every year. This year (2019) we raised over $750! Wilston Vet also donated over $450 to the RSPCA flood appeal of 2011. All monies generated from hydrobaths for the 6 weeks following the floods went directly toward the appeal.

Bakan – Fell 9 Stories And Lived To Tell The Tale

Bakan – Fell 9 Stories And Lived To Tell The Tale

Name: Bakan
Age: 6 months old
Weight: 3kg
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Male, desexed

History: Bakan, a super cute rescue kitten from Pets Without Partners, was living a fabulous life with his mum and dad in their unit. One night, Bakan’s owners realised that they hadn’t seen Bakan for half an hour or so. They then shortly afterwards received a call from PetER at Stafford Heights. A good Samaritan had found Bakan lying in their driveway and had kindly rushed him straight to the nearest emergency centre. It appeared that Bakan, being such an inquisitive and adventurous kitten, had taken a plunge from their 9th story unit!

Jim – A Torn Knee Ligament

Jim – A Torn Knee Ligament

Name: Jim
Age: 9yrs old
Weight: 36kg
Breed: Bull Mastiff X
Sex: Male, desexed

History: Jim limped through Wilston Vet’s door in July this year. His owners had noticed that he had been intermittently lame on his right hind leg for a little while. A partial tear of his cruciate ligament was suspected by another vet in February after x-rays of the right knee showed inflammation and evidence of degenerative joint disease. A couple of days prior to coming to Wilston Vet, Jim had twisted his right leg and was now much more painful. Jim’s left knee had been operated on for a cruciate tear using a de-angelis procedure 7yrs ago. Jim had been doing so well since then so his owners were wondering if Jim’s right knee was also a candidate for the same surgical repair.

Age: 14yrs old
Weight: 4.19kgs
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Sex: Female

History: The lovely, smoochy little cat Eddie (as in Edina from ‘Ab Fab’) came in to see us late last year for her annual vaccination.
